Nexa3D and Addifab have come together in a new partnership to bring 3D printed injection mould tooling technology to the world of injection moulding. The joint venture aims to introduce an innovative platform that can deliver better-quality products, faster, with added flexibility and reduced costs.
Nexa3D is a Californian-based company with an industry-leading technology that helps deliver ultra-fast polymers and metals 3D printing to industrial markets. In contrast, Addifab is a Danish start-up that develops innovative low-volume, high-mix injection moulding solutions.
The two companies are joining forces to explore and enhance the benefits of a new 3D printed injection mould tooling platform. The partnership leverages unique strengths, combining Nexa3D's NXE400 ultra-fast, high-precision 3D printer with Addifab's Freeform Injection Molding (FIM) to create a new injection moulding tooling concept.
The partnership builds upon existing relationships Nexa3D has with companies who used the NXE high-speed light polymer printing capabilities such as Henkel and 3DZ for production parts, prototyping, tooling and new applications.
This new partnership will help lead the way for new innovations in injection moulding tooling while increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
The market trend of on-demand manufacturing can now be achieved with high-quality products, which are delivered faster, and at a more significant benefit to customers. The new platform can rival the economics of all available systems with different scenarios of batch sizes, geometries, materials, and time pressures.
The Freeform Injection Moulding (FIM) technology enables high-quality injection moulded polymer material products with geometrical details down to the micron range. The NXE400 ultra-fast, high-precision 3D printer, which boasts aprint rate of up to one liter of polymer per hour, offers high-volume, high-precision capabilities.
Ketil Andersen, CEO of Addifab, said, "We are very excited to announce our new partnership with Nexa3D for industrial-scale 3D printing of injection moulding tools. Incorporating our unique FIM process into Nexa3D´s high-speed, high-precision 3D-printing platform creates an unbeatable, high-quality, and high-volume tooling fabrication floor, with just a few days from order placement to production start."
The new partnership will also focus on serving automotive customers worldwide, whose needs are for improved speed and cost, with low volume, high mix production of parts and components.
Shenzhen Zhongda Plastic Mould Co., Ltd offers a one-stop solution for product design, mould design, mould making, injection moulding, and assembling of products. The company was established in 2010 and is based in Shenzhen economic development zone.
With this joint venture between Nexa3D and Addifab, the world of injection mould tooling and production looks to be rapidly evolving to keep up with the demand for improving production times while maintaining quality and cost control.
